Door handles are among the most germ-infested objects in houses, hospitals, factories, and elderly homes. Materialise is sharing a free design file for all worldwide for a hands-free 3D-printed door opener. By using your arm instead of your hands, we can work together to avoid further spreading COVID-19.

 

 

Materialise designed with easy installation in mind. Our easy-to-use opener doesn’t require drilling holes or replacing your door’s handle. Setting it up is simple: all you have to do is fasten two 3D-printed pieces together with four screws over your existing handle. Currently, this model is fit for cylindrical handles between 18 and 22 mm, with additional designs to come soon.
